Champions and young dogs for sale; must reduce numbers. We have one 2 year old female and one 5 year old girl that would make an excellent brood bitch; also a 6 year old girl, both completely trained and are champions. There are 8 beautiful males between the ages of 18 months and 5, 3 are champions, for sale. Click "News and Info" or "Dogs for sale". Need to place some beautiful dogs in good homes. We are willing to negotiate prices; make us an offer! We need to reduce our numbers drastically.  Chuck and I are need to down size and we just can't take all these hand picked babies with us. These are great dogs that need good loving homes. If you or anyone you know has room for a special addition to their family, please pass along the information and call me. 281-794-7878. About Xanadu Kennels

Chuck and Candy Van Duzer started Xanadu Kennels in 1992 after breeding Golden Retrievers for a dozen years.

When our foundation Golden bitch,  was put down as a result of cancer, we decided to look into a different breed without the potential cancer and other health problems many Goldens may have. We knew how wonderful Chesapeakes were and acquired Shelby, 'our founder.' We are now one of the largest breeders of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in the South.

Shelby begat Ruby who in turn begot six champions (and counting), several excellent hunting dogs and all told, a total of thirty-nine magnificent companions. Ruby's offspring have in turn begun having puppies. We now have 5 generations of chessies; 15 years to 9 month to new born. All our dogs spend their time having fun, training, swimming and enjoying life.

Our fourth generation arrived in the fall of 2002. Out of fifteen puppies, nine have confirmation points. Six of the offsprings have become confirmation champions. The first of our fifth generation arrived in the spring of 2006. and more in 2007. We expect two litter June, 2008 and 4 more late 2008. We out breed as much as possible; trying for that "perfect chessie".

Sound dogs, proper in all respects. Those are the straightforward breeding guidelines we have employed with success. We breed for the original colors: shades of brown and sedge.

For those of you new to Chessies, we encourage you to read "Is a Chessie for me?" If still interested we suggest The New Complete Chesapeake Bay Retriever, by Janet and Dr. Daniel Horn as an excellent reference book on the breed.

We have between four to six high, sometimes more, quality litters every year and have shipped puppies (over 8 weeks old,) across the US and Europe.

We welcome inquiries about upcoming breedings, and accept deposits anytime after we establish a breeding. The deposits are good for a 12 month period on any litter.

Frequently we have older dogs available.

Stud service is available, subject to our review of the bitch's bloodline, OFA and CERF status.
